The Hawaiian Humane Society (HHS) is one of the most well-known nonprofit organizations on the island because of its lasting impact in Hawaii for over 50 years. The HHS rescues stray and abused animals, works toward better animal rights laws, and cares for over 20,000 animals each year. The HHS is a place where all animals are welcomed and loved.

The HHS provides numerous programs and services to the community, such as dog licensing, foster care, animal rescues, vet care, lost and found services for pets, and spaying and neutering. Moreover, the Hawaiian Humane Society helps animals find new, happy homes through the organization's adoption services!
Samantha Downing '18, who adopted her dog from the HHS, said, "Adopting [my dog] Simba was one of the most memorable times of my life because there is nothing quite like the experience of bringing home a new member of the family. It has almost been two years since my family and I adopted Simba but it feels as though she came home yesterday because of all the joy she brings to us."
As an independent nonprofit organization with many programs, volunteers are always needed.
